Blognotes in Models of Computer Science I (SW1.2)

Tuesday, October 18th, 2005

Well… sorry that I did’t post anything yesterday. I was too tired an dha d a terrible headace. I promise here and forever: That won’t happen anymore (please don’t take that too serious).
There was another funny episode in MoCS (short form for the name of this lecture) yesterday. The prof asked a guy who sat in the lecture with a PowerBook some questions. A selective cutout of their dialogue is served and translated for you by the gracious Starseeker (L – Lecturer, S – Student):

L: Hey, you there… yes… you with the steel-book!
S: Yes?!
L: Do you know what “to force” means?
S: Yes of cause!
L: Maybe you know about the word “proxy”, too?
S: Not exactly…
L: Then “forced proxy” doesn’t ring a bell?
S: No… not really…
L: I would enjoy you, taking part in my next lecture without browsing russian pr0n sites
S: O_O (< -- he made a face like a car, somwhere between fear, deadly embarresment and running away)
L: Its not our topic _YET_

That guy was shocked like … something.

Blognotes in Empirical social research I (SW 1)

Monday, October 17th, 2005

I am currently doing last tweaks to the shedule, enhancing it to have 2 free days. Currently, there is unly thursday as a free day.
Soon the first SoSci (Social Science) lecture will start.

(Note: the lecture never started, because the lecturer didn’t show up. It might be, that she still had exams on the shedule… we waited for about 45 Minutes in the “empty” small Audimax with about 40 people)

Blognotes in Models of Computer Science I (SW1.1)

Monday, October 17th, 2005

Models of Computer Science I is a lecture about the basic methods in Computer science. The following snippets (and many other in this cathegory) are things, I write down during the lecture. It may seem very context free, but perhaps it makes sense.

Some Blog notes beside the content notes on my notepad:

- It feels still strange to be learining again.
- Its basics, still easy, but i am aware of being lazy. Its fun. After this event, there is only one bblock Social Science of two hours left.
- I see smoking heads already, even if the prof just explains the basics of “Grammar of formal languages” in general.
- If it stays that easy, it will be a great time here.
